Majik is a student fashion brand venture, striving to deliver comfortable and effortless everyday business wear to those, who wish to emphasize their individuality even in a strict work setting.
The clothing line was a charity project, created clothes donated to Vancouver-based non-profit organization “Dress for Success”
Objective
Create a visual identity for a fashion department group assigned to create a business clothing line for charity purposes. The name wAS already chosen, and my work partner and I were to develop graphic assets to fit the brand’s aesthetic.
Challenge
The fashion department cohort had a number of members having their own opinions. coming up with a solution to please the requirements of them all was a tough task. The print production at the school was also limited to certain materials, finishes and timelines, which we had to work around.
Solution
To build the brand identity for majik we took the brand name as a starting point, implemented the fashion designers’ chosen fabric colours and textures into the brand design. We came up with a colour palette that is both bold and sophisticated, developed an organic logo system, suitable to be interchangeable on different media. We have also created a brand pattern that is used for the vellum tag covers, wrapping paper and extra buttons pocket.
the logo was inspired by the constellation of cassiopeia, which does look like the letter M in reverse, when you look into the night skies. Mysterious and majical fleur is given by the star-shaped elements throughout the brand visuals. This is paired with sophisticated and clean typography to create a strong impression.
